I tend to fall where [Bad username or unknown identity: snowy night] does on the spectrum, with withholding comfort, and I think female characters who are stoic and endure are more of a way of breaking down traditional norms for femslash (or any) fantoms the way hurt/comfort is for other fantoms, especially slash.
