I had no idea that mainstream/literary/non-genre fiction reviews and prizes were so weighted toward men. I know genre prizes like the Nebula and Hugo and Edgar Awards are, but not to this jaw-dropping an extant. Maybe because people don't think of fantasy and sci-fi and mysteries as "literary" and "srs bzns" or as being "important books" (which apparently can only be written by guys).

Also, "women are never completely masters of their own homes so blahblah this somehow makes their writing narrower?" What century is this guy living in?
