Reading guide to Marvel women: Good, bad and ugly.

By virtue of a large characters cast, there are a lot women characters who are interesting or have potential to be interesting in Marvel comics. Sadly, Marvel doesn't have a good record in treating their female characters well. Digging through the 50+ years of canon can be frustrating and down what depressing. However, there're still good writing to be found and I want to talk about what's so amazing, what's so frustrating, and what's down right ugly.
Good
Arana: Where it succeeds, it shines -- Arana is an incredibly well-made character, and I enjoyed getting this glimpse at her pre-Young Allies history. Her supporting cast is authentically diverse and well-crafted, and her powers and personality are great. Roger Cruz's art is also fantastic.
Spider Girl: It has action, plot and good characters. Mayday Parker 's very fun to read about.
X-23: Originally a female clone of Wolverine, the writer breaths life into the characters with her struggle to find a place in the world.
Runaway vol. 1 is full of suspense, romance, humour and doesn't fear to throw a punch. Karolina, Niko and Molly 're all great to read about.
White Tiger mini-series: It's an very fascinating story of how White Tigers takes up the mantle of her uncle.
Agents of Atlas 1st arc has spy and intrigue, cheesy sci-fi, and a lot of action, and it works. Namora's regal and always in control and Veny's also interesting.
Young Avengers: YA 's good. Kate's awesome despite no super power and Cassie's a great characters with link to the past.
Spider-Woman: The recovery of a Spiderwomen who suffers from alien imprisonment, lost years and lingering mistrust. Powerful.
Bad
Do you notice that most of the solo titles mentioned above are cancelled? Yeah, Marvel has a habit to cancel female characters' solo titles.
Ugly
Avengers Diseembled
Secret Invasion

Black Widow. Full of suspense and action and awesomeness. There's a very clever twist that I don't want to spoil you, but it handles Natasha's sexuality well.
Emma Frost: "she's a woman aware of her own sexuality. she owns it so you got the feeling that she wants to walk around half exposed because to be honest, that's what she's worked for - her breasts got done she keeps herself dutifully and extremely highly maintained, and she's wealthy. although she's a pretty mutant and can pass as a flatscan, or human but she pretty much is down with the cause of mutants when she doesn't have to be. Essential Emma reading
