Ah, with OWoD I'm pretty much an expert (looooong time fan). To be honest with you, I wanted this character to be totally unable to fight -- and what happened was that I pretty much had spare points by the end of the creation process, haha. The idea was to focus it all on mental and social traits, as a challenge, since we usually almost automatically go for physical ones. It's another reason why I'd love to get her to a table and rely on RP skills more than anything to help her survive the night!
I think modern D&D (and things like Pathfinder) throw me off more. Old school rolling for stats suits me well, but the kind of stuff they started adding to characters from 3/3.5 ed. up... Not for me.
I'd love to see what you come up with in Traveller! Apparently this edition has the death during character creation as optional, unless I'm mistaken, but there's surely no forgetting a game that allows for that in the first place :)
