Dear writer,

Thank you so much for creating a fanwork for me! I'm sure I will love it anyways, but here are some details about what I like/dislike, in case you like to do your research.

First off, I would rather receive a work that the creator was enthusiastic about than one that fulfilled every detail of my request. These are guidelines meant to help you, not to cage you. I've requested fic because I'm not confident in my ability to provide art prompts, but I love fanart and would be thrilled if my letter inspired any art treats.

For this exchange I have requested Affairs of the Court: Til Death Do Us Part, Star Trek: The Original Series, Cannonfire Concerto, Hark! A Vagrant, The Murderbot Diaries - Martha Wells, The Finite Magician (Music Video), Cain Saga and Godchild

General Like

I like stories with: amnesia, action/adventure, alternative universes, banter, capture and rescue, competence, crossover, dominance and submission, the edge between civilization and the unknown, formation of friendship, history affecting the present, humour, hurt/comfort, longing, love or friendship expressed in atypical ways, moral ambiguity, attraction between opposites, outsider POV, people telling stories, people who have each other's backs, people who flat out like each other's company, people suffering stoically, power exchange, people being resolute, secret identity (or lack of it), strong and competent characters, sense memory, time travel, traveling, slow burn, missing scenes, friends to lovers, fixing failed relationships, changing fate, things going wrong and navigating the outcomes

Though it seems unlikely, if you have not yet given up on my rambling and want to research me more, I've told more about what I like here.

Seriously, if you go the AU route-- or just in general-- please don't worry too much about making everything fit exactly into canon. I am *not* going to be super-picky about what happened when, or which characters were doing what during whatever event.

Horror/Supernatural/Dark fic specific

I love psychological horror, emotional manipulation, stockholm syndrome, mind control, bodyswapping, body horror, possession, supernatural creatures (I'm fond of vampires, but also love ghosts and zombies and werewolves and pretty much all of the weirder supernatural creatures), magic, moral ambiguity, suffocating and unsettling atmosphere, despair and desperation, characters forced to confront their darker nature/past/nightmares. No gore/vore and detailed torture please.

Kinks:

Admittedly, I have a bit of harder time coming up with kink-related prompts than gen ones. But don't let that stop you, because I would love to read anything more smut based as well. Here's some ideas:

I don't particularly like: unrequested pairings, infidelity, preferred pairings broken up within the fic, pregnancy/mpreg/kidfic, soul-bonding or "destiny" in terms of romance, excessive possessiveness and/or jealousy portrayed as healthy or romantic, "we're not gay we just love each other," first person narration, graphic violence, torture, deathfic, heavy illness (e.g. cancer or AIDS), rape/noncon, unrelenting angst, scat/watersports, vore, body fluids besides blood or sexual, bestiality, 24/7 BDSM lifestyle, self-harm, incest or faux-incest, religion bashing, major public embarrassment, and/or female-character-bashing-- including dialogues like "Don't be such a girl," and so on.

What I like about the canon: I love black and grey morality, fantasy royal court intrigue and the chance to play a magic-using Anne Boleyn with a possible better ending. I also love playing a smart ruthless queen working together with Luis de Vega as allies with common interest and more.

Treat: slice of life, organizing/participating in court events, e.g. parties, hunting, etc; celebrating festivals/traditions/rituals especially for the dead, enjoying a quiet night with or without a companion, a moment in the court intrigue

Trick: confrontation with magical attack or any magic-related accident/disaster, sharing scary stories, encounter with supernatural menace, nightmares, magic battle, court rumours about horrible things, plotting treason/perfect crime, manipulation of others

What I like about the canon: I love this show for its optimism and idealism, that the crew are competent and decent people who like each other and work towards a common goal, that it tries to ask insightful questions and explore social issues, and the entertaining adventure and cracky plots, and I’d like more of that.

Treat: a deep space Halloween party, slice of life moments, enjoying quiet time together, something related with candy/desserts, Halloween silliness, sharing customs related with the dead, characters working together and enjoying each other’s company, indulging in hobbies

Trick: running into some strange and monstrous aliens/creatures, really unfriendly alien technology/AI/robots, mind invasion, body snatching aliens, scary/ghost stories, nightmares, invasion from mirror universe, mission going wrong, captivity

Count Cain (Manga) - TV Tropes

What I like about the canon: I love how Kaori Yuki goes all out with her id: grotesque Victorian sensibility, dark obsession and codependency, and how she enjoys the macabre. The mysteries are "unsettling, splatter-filled, and deliciously in line with the melodramatic, horrific traditions of Edgar Allan Poe and Mary Shelley.", and I love how Riff and Cain are both competent and extremely loyal to and codependent with each other. I also think there’re a lot of unused potential with Merryweather, such as her tarot skill.

Cain

Treat: Anything Halloween related, having great quiet time, going on a trip, enjoying his study of poison, a moment when he feels truly at home, something showing how Riff and/or Merryweather is important to him

Trick: What if one of them is turned into a supernatural creature and how the other deals with it? What kind of length one will go to keep the other with him/to protect the other? What if they are forced to make a sadistic choice?

Merryweather

Treat: Anything Halloween related, joining/running a tea party, something to do with food/candies/desserts, enjoying a quiet day and generally having fun, anything tarots related, taking trips

What I like about the canon: The historical fantasy equivalence of Napoleonic Europe is fun, giving an interesting cast of characters with different agenda, and I love that my character has music superpower. The writing is fun, and I like how when trouble comes to my character’s doorstop, the choice and alliance they make shape their path greatly.

What I like about the canon: I love how mutually obsessive the pirate and the Nemesis are about each other: The pirate always has the Nemesis’ portrait by his side and has a large painting of Nemesis’ in his bedroom, while the Nemesis has nightmare that the pirate chooses to have another opponent. It’s really funny and adorable.

Treat: Anything Halloween related or rituals/festivals dealing with the dead, pursuit of the other, barely disguised confession, fighting/duel, enjoying a quiet day/conversation/drink, enforced intimacy (enemies forced to work together, hypothermia, identity porn, stuck in closed quarters, etc)

What I like about the canon: I love how a fun fast-paced action thriller the book is, and the future described is very intriguing, but most of all I love Murderbot, an apathetic, pessimistic killer android who can't stand being looked at without its helmet on and who just wants to spend its time in the comforting grip of TV, a wonderfully relatable, very funny and a great narrator

Treat: Anything Halloween related, watching tv/film/etc and enjoying it, a moment that it feels at ease with itself, a quiet enjoyable night, a snippet of action/adventure/discovery

The Finite Magician is song about a magician who creates a sentient puppet in his quest for infinity, only to realizes that his quest is futile. He tells the puppet about a mythic infinitely blossoming flower as a jest, but the puppet leaves to look for the flower before he can stops it. The magician realizes that he has his eternity when they’re together and waits for its return. What I like about the canon: I love stories with sentient non-human and magic. I also enjoy wallowing in all the mutual pining, miscommunication, stoical suffering and heavy angst, which are so delicious. I wonder what the quest for infinity is, and am also intrigued by the implication (and selfcest potential) that the magician looks identical to the puppet

The Magician
