Day 15
In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fangirls (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Day 13

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favourite interview, a book) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Star Trek: Wraith of Khan - "Sometime the need of many outweighs the need of one"

Marvel comics
Cable&Deadpool: In one issue Deadpool'd rather kill himself (he gets better) than submitting to mind control to shoot Cable

Matt&Foggy: A hug

Steve&Tony: The reconciliation in Heroic Age.

Misty&Colleen: Misty overcomes mind control--- all because of Colleen

Luke&Jessica: The wedding scene

Day 14

In your own space, ask for help. Need a beta? Always wanted to learn how to make a vid? a fanmix? icons? Maybe you’d want to have someone cheering for you while you work on an upcoming big bang or fannish bingo? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
.

I'd like someone to help brainstorm and kick me into gear writing the Very difficult Fic for poetry_ficathon. Fandom knowledge is not needed.

Someone to cheer me on or willing to beta for me is always welcome. I'll probably write more Marvel comics: Steve/Tony for fannish bingo. But I have a plan to write more female characters from Marvel and others.

Day Twelve: In your own space, rec at least three fanworks that you think would make a good intro into XYZ fandom. Rec a fandom overview, a introductory picspam, stories that define and shape the fandom.

It's HARD because [personal profile] muccamukk already does a pretty good job for my main fandom: Captain America/Iron Man. (Link here)

So I figure I'll just do a femslash rec list instead.

If you like humour and meta and fandom, I'll point you to Fangirl!Frannie (Due South, Frannie/Elaine) Frannie discovers fandom.

If you like plotty and slow developed relationship, Something Different (Iron Man Movie, Pepper/Natasha) is very good.

If you like creepy and horror, I 'll suggest Deep Breaths (Supernatural, Mary/Ellen)

If you like fairytale, Memories Of You Being Beautiful (Briar Rose/Snow White) is great.

If you like more cracky stuff, I like The Cafeteria's Got Everything (Dar Williams-The Honest Room [Allelua], Magenta-Haired Angel/Narrator)

If you like PWP, I think Primal is hot. (Legends of the Seeker: Cara/Kahlan) [note: aphrodisiac is involved]

If you like historical AU and woman saving the world, Holy Clockwork Angels(Supernatural: Ruby/Jo) is recommended.

If you like... but I think I overwhelm myself. Better stop and start my reading now.
snowynight: Kino in a suit with brown background (Default)
Day Eleven: In your own space, ask for recs. Something as simple as "I like XYZ (where XYZ is a kink, a pairing, a trope, etc) - please rec me some."

I'm trying to read more novels with queer protagonists (or prominent secondary characters), that aren't about being queer. Fantasy, sci fi or mystery novels would be ideal. I generally don't like rape/non-con, major character death, hopeless ending, or queer people dying, and would at least like to be warned for such.

If anyone has written fic matching my requests on day seven, that I haven't read, that would be nice.
snowynight: Kino in a suit with brown background (Default)
Day Eight: In your own space, talk about a talent (or talents) you have. Everyone's got something they're good at. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I can write. I'm quite a plotter in the sense that I can think up convoluted plot with huge world building needed, never mind my writing ability. Fortunately I have my lovely betaes and my inner critic to keep my fic simpler.

I can draw. Not very good, but it's an enjoyable past time.

I can still use HTML to write web pages.

Day 9

In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This's how it works
By: [personal profile] snowynight
Beta: [archiveofourown.org profile] thais
Rating: PG
Warnings : none
Series: AU
Relationship: Steve and Tony
Summary: In the ruin left after the vampire war, Steve's waiting for Tony to wake up.
A/N: Written for my cap-ironman bingo card prompt: Canon: Any what if. This's set in Earth-9140: What if Wolverine had been lord of the vampires during Inferno? Also for Snowflake challenge day 9

Read it on AO3

Day Ten
: In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

My favourite fanwork creater:
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone: I admire her for her ability to transcend what can be really cracky cliche to haunting beautiful work. In The Twilight Kingdom, she breathes life into the Ancients. The Amazing Adventures of Me, Myself & I, or: Five Times John and Rodney Accidentally Cloned Themselves is a humourous, angsty and somewhat haunting. I love the The Four Quarters 'Verse even though I know nearly nothing about band music. Misery to Man convinces me that Mpreg can be great and fresh. And I love the Wing Trilogy.

snowynight: Ultimate Jan in her Wasp form (Ultimate Jan)
Day 7: In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Drop a link to your wish-list in this post. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

Go ahead and post your wishes over at your journal. Be specific.

> Art. I have always wanted art of any sort for any of my fics. I would adore anything: banners, digital manips, traditional art, fanvids, anything at all.

Day 6

In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) and that you ended up loving.

Title: Wing Trilogy: The Man Who Rose From Earth, Flux and The Rise and Fall
by [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone
Stargate: Atlantis. Rodney McKay/John Sheppard. 850 words, 1,385 words and 2,100 words. Yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

Here trinityofone transforms an over used cliche and turns it into something beautiful and haunting, a great character study of the characters.

Title: The Stolen Child by [livejournal.com profile] atdelphi
Harry Potter. Albus Dumbledore/Severus Snape, Mature, 2500 words
Albus Dumbledore is not quite human..
Warning: mention of mental illness and implication of child abuse
To put it politely, I'm very not into Snape. I haven't ever thought of Snape/Dumbledore before I click on the story. But this story's beautiful and slightly creepy. The characters are very them too.

Title: Prelude by Veszelyite

Angel Sanctuary. Alexiel/Jibril, PG13, 2200 words
Summary: Alexiel and Jibril, before the start of the second rebellion in Heaven

Jinril's kind of a non-entity when I was reading Angel Sanctuary, and this story gives life to her and makes me ship this. Awesome.

Title: Humorous TOS Episode Commentaries by Laura Godwin (Kirk/Spock)

It convinces me of slash, of K/S, and shapes my ST: TOS head canon and a lot of things.

[community profile] cap_ironman

Once upon a time, I wasn't a Americal superhero fans. Once upon a time, I could barely tell you who Captain America and Iron Man were.

Now I'm still in the Captain America/Iron Man fandom. I write, read and interact with other fans.

Because of the people behind the coms.
snowynight: Kino in a suit with brown background (Default)
Day 5's directive is: "In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends."

I love reading. Reading has always been my thing. I'm totally the kind of girls who read Introduction to Abnormal Psychology at 12. I'm a voracious reader and love different kinds of books, though recently I veered toward fiction. Among my childhood favorite are King Solomen's Ring, The complete work of Sherlock Holmes and Romance of Three Kingdoms. I also read a lot of manga, and one of the most memorable is Angel Sanctuary. This year I want to read more book written by PoC writers and post  reviews .

I love music. My favourite singers include Vienna Teng, Loreena Mckennitt, Chen Yee-jing and Ingrid Michaelson, Recently I listen to a lot Vocaloid original songs.

snowynight: Kino in a suit with brown background (Default)
Day 2

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

This's in no ways comprehensive. There're simply too many to list.

community:

[community profile] fanart_recs

Reasons for rec: I love that it's a community effort to let people enjoy more lovely fanarts in different fandoms.

Fanvid

Awake - Esmeralda&Belle [femslash]

Reason for recs: It's inspiring to me. and I like the creative way of interpreting the canon materials.

Fanfic:
horns of a deer, feet of a tiger by [archiveofourown.org profile] softintelligence (Iron Man (Movies), PG, Gen)

Summary:

An origin story where Tony Stark is a Vietnamese-American person.

"It's because baguettes and fried eggs remind him of being poor," his mom said, "and Ba only wants to be rich."

Reason for recs: A brilliant take of how race can affect everything.

The rest of my rec can be found here: on this tag or on list 50 or on del.icio.us

snowynight: Kino in a suit with brown background (Default)

Day 1: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Drop a link to your post in the comments.

This year I wrote 6 fic for Yuletide. I'm going to do a Yuletide reveal post and see the challenge, so I think, why not combine both and talk about what I like about the fics? First of all. thanks you to the recipients! And the Yule Chat for their indispensable help

Fandom: Tales of Abyss
Title: Mismatched
Rating:
General Audience
Warning: No archive warning apply
Summary: Emperor Peony IX was bored. Bad things happened when he was bored.
Why I like it: I like that the fic's a humourous romantic comedy inspired both by Anne of Green Gables and Shakespeare. It's also easy to write once I figure out the plot and characters PoV

Fandom: Chi Bi | Ref Cliff (2008)
Title:Sword and Tea
Rating
General Audience
Warning No archive warning apply
Summary Fate decides that Zhou Yu and Zhao Yun are on opposite sides, but it doesn't mean that they don't reach out for each other.
Why I like it Hot guy! Sword dance! Uniform!. More seriously, I love Zhao Yun and Zhu Yu most in Red Cliff, and I love police procedural, so I'm glad to have the prompt to to explore their dynamics in different context is fun to me.

Fandom Hamlet - Shakespeare
Title Something is rotten in Denmark
Rating
Teen and Up audience
Warning Author choose not to warn
Summary "So tell him, with th’ occurrents, more and less which have solicited,” my lord said with his dying breath. I lied instead
Why I like it The recipient asks for horror and family. I like that I produce a haunting, paranoid and catastrophic atmosphere, and try to subtly transmit the family theme through Horatio. And the recipient like it. It's the most important thing.

Fandom: Disney Princess
Title Noir
Rating General Audience
Warning No archive warning apply
Summary: Ariel and Belle team up on a trail to murder, while Jasmine and Megara have their agenda.
Why I like it: I know I'm going for a noir AU when I see the prompt. Cyberpunk is fun. Cyberpunk noir is doubly fun. The princesses in a noir world being smart and tough are triply fun.

Fandom: Fairy Tales and related fandoms
Title: The Roads not Taken
Rating General Audience
Warning No archive warning apply
Summary: In four universes, Cinderella makes the choice whether her beloved Charmaine is right for her. (Femslash)
Why I like it: Dutch golden age! Magic, Airship and dragon, what's there not to like? But what I love most is that I depict a Cinderella who retains her agency and deal with the class issues in her romance.

Fandom:Ballad of Mona Lisa (Music Video)
Title: Mary Mary Quite Contrary
Rating Teen and Up audience
Warning Author choose not to warn
Summary Once Mary walked the rules. Now she doesn't
Why I like it Thank you for introducing me this steampunk Western Gothic music video, recipient. The colourful imagery reminds me of Alice in the Wonderland and A Rose for Emily. Hence the Wicked style rewriting. I love the subtle allusion and the horror and the hope.
