Mausritter is a tabletop RPG that you play a small mouse adventurer in a dangerous world. The rules are simple - only 10 pages, There rest are an example of play, lists of weapons and tools, bestiary, random table for character creation and master resources, It has a pay what you want digital edition that you can check it out freely.

Character generation is randomized, so it's very fast. I throw dice to decide the name, appearance, background, starting equipments, and attributes. There's an official online character generator. It has a physical card based inventory system. You can put items squares into the limited slots. Some heavy items need two slots, If you exceed your inventory limit, the character can't run and will be at disadvantage at rolls. So it's a hard choice what to keep. Items can be used up too.

Magic is rare and dangerous in the world of Mausritter. It often requires a quest to obtain spells. The mice have to hold the magic tablet to cast spell, so each spell will eat away your inventory slot. Like other items, magic tablets have limited use. The way to replenish magic is demanding. For example, the way to replenish the fireball is to "Burn in the heart of a raging fire for three days and nights"

My mouse adventurer Brynn Danger was a message runner before turning into an adventurer. She is a stubborn but charming, and loves to tell colourful stories about her exploits that may or may not be true. She is looking for a missing mouse to deliver her last letter.

GURPS stands for "Generic Universal RolePlaying System", an universal RPG system that allows you to play in any setting. it's a toolkit for depicting worlds with a default assumption of verisimilitude. It has many well research source books that are useful outside role playing purpose. I really love the Horror book that discusses the horror genre.

I have complicated feeling about GURPS. I love how flexible it is, but it's also agonizing to decide what rules to use and what kind of character you want to make. You can make any characters in GURPS, which's a blessing and burden.

I make my character based on Evan, the protagonist of a Chinese web novel, Guidebook for the Dark Duke. Evan has transmigrated into a regency romance as a doomed Anglican priest side character, so he decides to win the yandere duke's heart for money and status. However, he falls in love with the duke while investigating crimes. It's refreshing to see an ambitious, two-faced, sharp, and selfish yet believably charming protagonist. He's competent but doesn't have super ability, so it'll be easier for me.

I use a 100 character point as an exceptional character level. I also use both the priest and detective template in GURPS 4E Horror for reference. I bases his stat as he's in in the early canon. He's a conman but not a fighter, and hasn't earned the duke as his ally yet.

Traveller is a scifi tabletop rpg that let you play merchants, space military, espionage or explore the space. Mongoose Traveller is currently the most recent and supported version.

The character generation is a game in itself, creating a character with interesting life story. You roll their attributes, taking careers, encounter different random events and decide when to quit before mishaps happening. It's very unpredictable and fun.

My character is a smart ruthless cybernetics & robotics researcher.

She doesn't come from the higher clase nor finish university education, but still earns prestigious awards as a field researcher.

However, she takes shortcuts and conducts unethical researches. When the government objects to her research because of politics, she continues openly. That's why she is hated.

Jane retires with the highest rank as a field researcher. She is eager to explore the space with her lab ship for more science (and dodge her enemies)

Top Secret S. I. is a spy tabletop RPG published in 1987 inspired by James Bond movies. I have first known about tabletop RPG because I have stumbled on a Top Secret S. I fansite (Web archive version). It blew my mind that I can use rules to make a character and go on adventures. For fun and nostalgia, I use the rules to make a character.

I use online dice to decide my characters's basic attribute and psychological profile. I also randomize her nationality and general appearance.

Agent Felicitás Kázmér is strong, tough and has quick reflex. She is laid back and loyal to her employer, but her big heart and piety was a mismatch with her job. She was traumatized by her career, but few people could recognize that she was off to the deep end. She would leave a simple drawing of a blunted sword in murder scenes as a sign of judgement for everyone involved, despite the risk of exposing herself.

How I get into tabletop rpg.

I discovered tabletop rpg on my own on the Internet. The game is Top Secret S.I., a 80's spy rpg game. It's my first love - I plays with the character generation for minute. My first game, though, was a super game that I played with my brother using rock, scissor and paper to decide on result. I was GM then, and the trend continued.

generic or specific system?

Both have their place, I think. It depends which one is suitable for the setting I'll use

Fantasy or sci-fi?

Sci-fi. Because I like to explore the future and technology in games.

random or point-buy character generation?
I like to have some control in the character, so I prefer point buy. But random power for superheroes can be fun too.

crunchy or rule-light?
I'm lazy so I appreciate anything without much prep-work.

Style or substance?
I am know to be lured to RPG with good layout, but I also happen to think the brievity of GURPS book is a great style, so.

Narrative or simulationist?
I prefer narrative more because I can wing more things easier.

GM or Player?
I want to be simply a player, but so far I can't find people to GM for me.

Vienna Teng

5 genres I love
Detective/Mystery: I prefer police procedural and hard boiled detective novels, but I like cosy too.
Fantasy: I love convincing world building, something that is fresh and not your stereotypical medieval society.
Sci-Fi: While I love books that explore the impact of technology on humanity and trashumanism, I love space opera too.
Comedy: I love gentle humour and quick wit. Sadly many TV comedies hit my embarassment squick hard.
Romance: This explains my fandom reading habit.
