The deep sea

The Deep Sea
: a visual representation of the creatures in deep ocean. I had no idea sea lions could go as deep as killer whales before.

10 weird creatures found in the deep sea in 2021: Shapeshifting fish, ghostly jellies, stunning cephalopods and more.

Space

Here's how the James Webb Space Telescope is aligning its mirrors in deep space: I wonder what we will find out about the space.

Astronomers propose building a neutrino telescope — out of the Pacific Ocean: It sounds very ambitious and I hope it will be successful.

Visualization

How the sky changes throughout a year: Dutch Astronomer Cees Bassa took a photo of the sky every 15 seconds for a year in 2021,and turns them into a keogram.

ImportYeti A visualization of US companies' support chain based on sea shipment dataset from US custom. You can search where, how, what and when a company import from with its name or address.

That Deep Sea scrolling website is such a clever idea and so interesting. Really gives you an idea of the different lengthscales and the incredible depth some creatures live at! Also, I had no idea the descent into the Challenger Deep was actually before the first moon landing. It's funny how much more attention trips into space get relative to trips into the ocean, especially considering how many cool and interesting things there are in the depths of the ocean.

Very cool! I'd seen some of these before, but the keogram is new and a really neat project.

The Deep Sea was an intense scroll. And a long one with stretches of apparent nothing before some other organism would appear, until finally making it to the final story descending to the bottom.
