The 30-Stories in a Month Challenge: Day 9

A has been a weirdness magnet since they can remember. They are a social outcast because time travelling talking dogs and murderous ghost cab drivers are common occurrence to them. A is grateful that their childhood best friend B stands by them, but worried that the weird stuff around them will hurt B eventually.

Recently A attracts more unwanted attention than usual: a university student filming crews, two cults and at least three secret agencies. Worse, B is suddenly very secretive and distracted.

Actually, a villain uses them as a distraction to cover up an evil plot. The villain captures A and taunts B with this. B destroys the villain too easily.

Afterward B confesses to A that they aren't humans. They are hiding it because they know how much A suffers and doesn't want to lose A.

A is very surprised, but after some thinking, they tell B that it's all right and B won't lose them. They're touched how much B cares for their relationship. A and B take a vacation away to relax and talk (until their lives are interrupted again)

Yeah. Perhaps A should be suspicious the time B saves him from vampire who wants to adopt A/the portal realm with gold people/a giant's dream/etc, but B is so sensible and awesome (and A has a broken meter for weirdness)
