My headcanon for Star Trek: the Original Series

- When Spock was in Starfleet Academy, he went all out in experiment with his human side. He worked hard and played hard, including a lot of casual sex. He was a scientist. The biggest fear came from the unknown. Only through experimentation we improve (or disprove) our theory. He could only control himself better through knowledge. It was also strategic to know more about humans than people realize. This was when he picked up some popular culture like Halloween celebration. He didn't talk about this like he never brought up his parents.

- Spock is an anti-hero figure who never quite fits the social expectation, a trait shared by his mirror counterpart. He will be very happy to have Jim by his side in a community that accepts him for what he is. Meanwhile, Jim's dream is have Spock by himself in a never ending adventure. They are such a good pair.

That is a really interesting head-canon for Spock, and not one I think I have ever heard before.

Thank you! My head canon is that one reason Spock is so unprepared for pon farr because he already has sex and nothing happens, so he assumes that his human narure may make this avoidable.

Your headcanon for Spock is different from my own. Because of that, I would find it really fun to read fic based on your headcanon.

What's your headcanon about Spock? I love to hear different take from mine.

It's far less joyful than yours. I think Spock has always been an outsider in whatever world he has visited and people never give him the opportunity to forget that. Because eyes are always on him and ready to find fault, I don't see him being able to experiment in the way that you describe.

But, as I wrote, I like your headcanon very much. It's kinder than mine. And, it would make sense in a better world. Err. Worlds?

I can see your take too. There is a reason why Spock shows most sympathy to the space hippies. I also like to imagine better worlds in the 23rd century in Star Trek future. 😉

I want to believe that the Star Trek future is a better world. However, the show explicitly displays Spock being treated with bigotry. So, while the 23rd century of Star Trek may be better than our present, it still leaves a lot to be desired.

I hope I don't come the wrong way. Star Trek is a source of joy and hope for me. It's a TV show formative to the best parts of my worldview. Spock is my favorite character.

I've never fit well anywhere, and Spock showed me how to be a person when you can't fit wherever you go.

Sorry to hear that about you. The future in Star Trek is definitely imperfect, so I can see your point too. I think Spock's story of an misfit outsider who forges his unique path makes him a powerful character.

These are reasonable ideas. I can imagine Spock believing that among the humans was the only time he would be able to experiment in such a manner.

In a way it is really freeing. No one knows who his parents are. Few knows about Vulcan culture and customs, so he can misinform and deflect as much as he wants. You get a lot of leeway shaping your image when you are the de facto authority of your race/culture
