Rare Marvel femslash pairing manifesto

snowynightWith Marvel universe's loads and loads of characters, there're a lot of slashable women. However, it 's difficult to navigate between several decades of convoluted canon so I'm writing this as an introduction. Because of sheer amount of canon, I'm not trying to be extensive and restrict myself to pairings I like in the main comics universe, aka Earth 616. (note: images heavy)
Misty Knight/Colleen Wing
Who are they?
Misty had served in New York bomb squad before she lost her arm in a trying to defuse a bomb. Facing the choice between a desk job and leaving the forces, Misty left and formed Nightwing Restoration, a detective agency with Colleen. Misty was idealistic, proud of being a Black woman and a cyborg, and stubborn, the "I'll get my man" kind, but sometimes she felt adrift about herself. She was a sharpshooter but preferred hand-to-hand combat.
Random awesomeness of Misty Knight
Colleen Wing was raised by her samurai grandfather and received training from him. She went to United States and was saved by Misty from a criminal crossfire. They soon become good friends and when Misty lost an arm, she encouraged Misty to get out of the funk and worked together. Colleen was more pragmatic and level-headed. She unsheathed her katana at the time Misty took out her gun.
Why ship them?
Because they have a relationship closer than blood sister, because their personality complements each other perfectly, because they have a long history together. Because Misty's love for Colleen is strong enough to break out of mind control. Because they look good together.
Where to find more of them?
Daughters of Dragon min-series - Action, decent plot, and full of Misty and Colleen being awesome together.
Bizarre Adventures 25:Misty and Colleen fighting vampires, and full of femslashness.
Where are they?
Misty now heads Heroes for Hire acting like Oracle. Colleen is currently adrift in New York. They recently had a messy fight (Thanks to Marvel's stupid plot), but it just gives space for writing fix-it fic, right?

Carol Danvers/Wanda Maximoff
Who are they?
Carol Danvers has been a spy, a military officer, a writer and a superhero. She makes achievement despite the opposition, has been awesome despite the stupid plot. She's strong, brave with compassion.
Wanda Maximoff started her career as a member of Magneto's Brotherhood, but she becomes a superhero and a steady member and even leader of the Avengers.
Why ship them? Because their personality complement each other. Because they care about each other. Because when Carol's down, Wanda's here to try to help.
Where to find more of them? Carol featured heavily in Avengers vol. 3, House of the M and Civil War. Wanda has made steady appearance in Avengers vol. 1 and 3.
Where are they?
Carol rejoined the New Avengers team while Wanda's making a comeback in the Young Avengers current run Children's Crusade.

Rikki Barnes/Anya Corazon
Who are they?
Rikki is Captain America's trusted partner from another universe. But after a world shattering event, she finds herself in the main universe, with Captain America dead and everyone she knows lost to her. She has to adapt to the new life and goes to a high school, superheroing at night as Nomad, Girl without a World
Anya gains her power when she gets recruited as an agent of a secret clan, thus inheriting an inter-clan rivalry. Later she is mentored by Ms. Marvel, whom she sees as a mother figure.
Why ship them?
Because sometimes you just want to ship happy, well-balanced couple who like and support each other. Because they're just so adorable together.
Where to find more of them?
Young Allies is a six-issue miniseries, where Rikki and Anya bond and fight supervillains and generally being adorably awesome.
Nomad: Girl without a World is a very good mini-series reintroducing Rikki.
Anya stars in Amazing Spider Girl vol. 2
Where are they?
Anya is part of the new class of students when the Avengers Academy moves to the former headquarters of the West Coast Avengers. Rikki is now presumed dead when she heroically sacrificed herself. But it 's comics where the death is revolving door, so I still hold out hope.

Mystique/Destiny
Who are they?
Mystique: Mystique is a badass. She's cunning, ruthless, a great leaders with a vision. She's also known as the caring adoptive mother of Rogue. Throughout most of her history, Mystique has been a supervillain, founding her own Brotherhood of Mutants and assassinating several important people involved in mutant affairs. Mystique is at times brutal and ruthless in achieving her goals (certainly not averse to killing in order to make a point), but on the other hand came to be fond of her comrades and was very friendly towards them as the years passed; they for the most part have been loyal and faithful to her.
Destiny is a mutant that can predict the future. She met Mystique a century ago and they started a quest to shape the future. How awesome it is? She was a quiet and patient woman who used her power to help her team avoid potential trouble. She was fairly kindly though she had self-described "darker ways", and could be rather selective about the predictions she made and who she warned about her visions, but above all, Destiny was loyal to her comrades and a loving partner to Mystique.
Why ship them?
Because it's worth supporting a canon same-sex couple. Because their relationship has extended for over a century and withstand the time.
Where to find more of them?
Where are they?
Mystique is seen alive again posing as Sabretooth at L.A.X. Airport in Wolverine#300. Destiny is presumably dead.

Who are they?
Jean is among the first X-Men and is a powerful telepath. She's cheerful, friendly but has a hidden darker side.
Emma uses her sexuality as an armour and weapon. She's a mastermind, ruthless, pragmatic but very maternal about her students.
Why ship them?
Because rival femslash is awesome. Telepaphy fight, superhero/part time super villains, think of the drama.
Where to find more of them? Dark Phoenix arc is the most popular arc about Jean, and Emma is at her most awesome in 80's run.
Where are they? Jean is currently dead. After the events of SCHISM, Emma Frost stays on Utopia with Cyclops' team, regardless of her desire to return to a school setting where she feels she belongs. Emma also begins to fund Cyclops' team financially as Angel is no longer on the team due to being taken over by the Archangel. But death should be temporary for Jean, Phoenix

Who are they?
X-23 is a female Wolverine clone who tries to find a place for herself in the world.
Jubille's irreverant, happy and currently a vampire.
Why ship them?
Because both of them are predators and they know it. Because X-23 trusts Jubilee to kill herself when necessary.
Where to find more of them? Read X-23 mini-series. It's great.
Where are they? X-23 is currently in Avengers Academy. After the end of X-23, I'm not sure about the current location of Jubilee.
Want to see more? Sadly, there're no fanwork I can find of this pairing. I'm hoping people to fill the vacuum.
